ROCKPORT — In a Monday afternoon contest, the Oceanside and Camden Hills varsity softball teams met in Rockport for a showdown.

This time, the showdown ended in favor of the visiting Mariners as Oceanside collected a 10-0 victory to improve its record to 3-0, while the host Windjammers (0-3) were left still searching for its first victory of the season.

Oceanside plated four runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth.

The Mariners tallied eights hits and committed no errors. The Windjammers recorded one error.

Working the pitcher’s circle for Camden Hills were Olivia Brown (four innings, three strikeouts, seven walks) and Lillia Stone (three innings, six strikeouts).

In the pitcher’s circle for Oceanside, Chloe Jones pitched a complete game and allowed one walk. She fanned 20 batters and tossed a no-hitter.

“Chloe Jones was unbelievable today on the mound,” said Oceanside head coach Rusty Worcester, who noted Jones has now fanned 49 batters and only allowed one walk through the team’s first three contests.

Pacing the Oceanside offense was Kalli Grover (double, single, RBI), Grace Pratt (two singles, RBI), Jones (double), Abby Veilleux (single), Jessica Watkinson (single, RBI) and Autumn Harvey (single, RBI).

Veilleux also swiped three bases.

For its next contest, Oceanside will hit the road Wednesday, April 24 to challenge Brewer, who eliminated the Mariners in the Class B North regional championship last season. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Camden Hills, meanwhile, will seek its first victory when the Windjammers hit the road to challenge Hampden Academy on Wednesday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
