BELMONT — On April 29, 2024 the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 425 Augusta Road, in the town of Belmont. The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation led by Waldo County Sheriff’s Office Detective Zane Loper.

Detective Loper developed information that identified the building located at the above address as an illegal marijuana growing operation, according to WCSO, in a news release.

During the investigation and execution of the warrant, the Sheriff’s Office has collaborated with federal agencies including Homeland Security and the Drug Enforcement Agency, the State Office of Cannabis Policy and the municipality of Belmont.

During the execution of the search warrant a large marijuana cultivation operation (1000+ live plants) was found and dismantled.

There were no arrest made on scene. The investigation is ongoing, any charges resulting from this incident will be reported at a later time.
