Oceanside field hockey blanks Lincoln Academy

NEWCASTLE — The Oceanside varsity field hockey team hit the road Saturday, Sept. 29 to Newcastle to challenge Lincoln Academy. 

After a scoreless opening half, the visiting Mariners poured in four goals to claim the 4-0 victory. 

With the win, the Mariners improved its record to 2-7. 

Scoring for Oceanside in the second half were Colette Black (assisted by Vandrielli Barcelos and Emma Gerrish on penalty corner, 27:13), Grace Young (assisted by Amanda Frost, 14:16), Emma Young (assisted by Black, 2:12) and Black (unassisted, 1:26)

Oceanside recorded 18 corners, while Lincoln Academy collected 10. 

Oceanside tallied 15 shots, while Lincoln Academy recorded six. 

In the goalie net, Oceanside’s Alex Barstow recorded six saves, while Lincoln Academy’s Addie Brinkler tallied 11. 

The next game for Oceanside will come Tuesday, Oct. 1 on the road against Maranacook.
