Gina Elizabeth Fowlie, obituary

GLEN COVE — Gina Elizabeth Fowlie, 64, went home to be with her Lord, peacefully, Saturday, April 27, 2024 following a brief period of declining health.

Born January 7, 1960 in Rockland she was the daughter of Raymond, Sr. and Alice Caven Fowlie. She attended Glen Cove Christian High School and Camden Rockport High School. She attended UMA earning a degree in social work as a LCSW. She worked for many years with Kno-Wal-Lin Health Care and later as a schoolteacher at Mid-Coast Christian Academy. Later in life, Gina held several other jobs in various locations including behind the window at Dormans Ice Cream as the happy, smiling face, scooping ice cream.

Gina enjoyed membership at First Baptist Church in Rockland, was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and watching Jeopardy with her mother. She will be remembered for her competitive nature, playing wordle against her sister. Gina loved to travel and was especially fond of her trips to Paris, California and Alaska. Most important in Gina’s life was her family. She loved to reminisce about the great memories and times they shared during gatherings and celebrations.

Predeceased by her parents, and a nephew, Raymond ‘Rory’ Fowlie, III; Gina is survived by her brothers, Raymond Fowlie Jr. and his wife Gail of Gardiner, Gregory Fowlie and his wife Rhonda of Palermo; her sister, Stacy Spofford and her husband Barry of Thomaston; ten nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as two life-long friends, Gail Rausch of Massachusetts, and Nancy Lovett of Maine.

A small family directed graveside gathering will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 2 p.m., at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
