‘Luna’ restoration featured during The Apprenticeshop open house, Feb. 29

ROCKLAND — On Thursday, Feb. 29, from 5:30 - 7 p.m., at 655 Main Street, The Apprenticeshop invites the community to an exclusive look behind the scenes of their boatbuilding haven.

The spotlight of the evening will shine on the ongoing restoration of Luna, a 23’ Mermaid Class racing sloop.

The rebuild, initiated last fall, promises to retain the vessel's historical ballast while undergoing a comprehensive refit, according to The Apprenticeshop, in a news release.

The Apprentice crew working on this rebuild will share share insights into the lofting process and the intricate art of steam bending the keelson.

“Engage in a Q&A session with the Apprentices and the vessel's owner, and take a stroll around to witness other mesmerizing projects in the making,” said the release.

Light refreshments will be served.
