ROCKPORT — Join George’s River Trout Unlimited for a presentation by Jeff Davis, founder of Maine Fly Company, Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m., at Maine Sport Outfitters.

Jeff Davis founded Maine Fly Co. in part to celebrate his late father's passion for fly fishing and Maine. Maine Fly Co. honors Maine’s fly fishing culture and heritage through the quality craftsmanship of small batch rods built by hand here in Maine by a select group of master craftsmen. 

“Each one-of-a-kind rod batch is named for one of our stunning waterways,” said GRTU, in a news release.

Davis’ vision aims to celebrate the sport of Fly Fishing, show appreciation for fine craftsmanship, and remain committed to sustainability of Maine’s waterways. His presentation will discuss fly rods, fly rod building and the business of building custom fly rods in Maine. 

The GRTU meeting April 8 will be held upstairs in the fly shop at Maine Sport in Rockport. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with “Trout Talk,” an informal gathering for those who wish to visit and meet Davis before the presentation. Pizza is available for purchase by the slice.

The formal meeting and featured presentation begin at 7 p.m.

GRTU conducts a raffle directly following the speaker.
