The second program, on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m., will feature a Zoom presentation by Zoe Couacaud titled “From the Chesapeake Bay to the Bahamas and Back: How a family of novice sailors learned to navigate their first oceanic journey during a global pandemic.”

Zoe Couacaud grew up in Mauritius and Australia and is a documentary filmmaker, naturalist, and educator based in Washington DC. In September 2020 she and her husband, 13 year-old daughter and 11 year-old son embarked on a nine-month journey to the Bahamas. It was their first experience living aboard and their first time sailing the ocean – what they didn’t anticipate was that this long-planned journey would end up taking place within the context of a global pandemic.

The Winter Adventure Series continues Tuesday, March 26 with Dan Miller, the founder of Belmont Boatworks, discussing some of their innovative projects.

For more information please call the Belfast Free Library at 207-338-3884 ext. 10.
