BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick varsity boys soccer team defeated Camden Hills for the second time in a week Saturday, Oct. 1 in a hard fought 3-1 victory during Brunswick’s homecoming celebrations.

Liam Moncrief got the scoring started in the opening 10 minutes slamming home a rebound after a Brunswick free kick careened off the Camden Hills wall.

Brunswick senior captain Jack Banks showed his quality shortly after when he beat a defender near the edge of 6-yard box and drove a well placed ball to the back post.

Camden Hills caught fire after the second goal and grabbed the lions share of possession but had nothing to show for it when the whistle blew for half time.

Midway through the second half after sustained pressure on the Brunswick net, Charlie Pons would finish an excellent cross from Max Welt to get the 'Jammers within a goal.

Late in the game and pressing hard for a goal the Windjammers gave up the final goal with five minutes to play as Luke Patterson volleyed home the games final tally.

Camden Hills held the edge in shots 19-9 and corners 5-3.

Brady LaForge finished with nine saves for Brunswick while Brian Leonard and Avery Luft combined for seven saves for the Windjammers.

We had a poor opening 10 minutes today and after that played as well as we have all year. You never want to lose but I feel really good about how we played today and we are moving in the right direction for how we need to play and what we need to do to make a run in the playoffs.
