BROOKS — On March 26, Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy John McEwen received a complaint indicating that a male wanted on arrest warrants in Pennsylvania was currently in Brooks, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

McEwen and Deputy Darrin Moody confirmed that there was an extraditable felony warrant for Franklin Barrick, of St. Thomas, Penn., for failing to register as a sex offender with the Pennsylvania State Police, the release said. It was learned that Barrick was living in Brooks under an assumed name for approximately a month, the sheriff’s office said.

McEwen and Moody located Barrick while he was operating a motor vehicle in Brooks. They stopped Barrick, arrested him as fugitive from justice, and transported him to the Waldo County Correctional Center where he is currently being held. Additional charges may be pending, the sheriff’s office said.
