WARREN — Alyson Martinez is struggling to pay bills after suffering injuries third degree burns and injuries on Oct. 8. As a way to support her and her family, Ben Teer, of Ben Teer Training Basketball, is donating his gym at the Midcoast Athletic Center, Route 1, in Warren, for a 3:3 basketball tournament fundraiser, Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Jared Wayne of the Thomaston Recreation Center is volunteering his coordination.

“The after math of recovery too is lengthy and she has no idea when she can go back to work,” said Christina Kinney, in a news release. “She is a single mother who is out of work for, we don't know how long...Monthly bills alone add up, and she has a car in the shop and no means to pay for it to be fixed.” 

Organizers are looking for 4 team for each grade level. There will also be a 3 point shot and foul shot competition for an additional cost.  

Admission to watch is by donation.

“We want everyone to watch and experience this great event that we are hosting for Alyson and her family,” said Kinney.

Her son, Reed, plays at the MAC and also for WCS. Her daughter attends Medomak Middle School.
