WARREN — A three-car crash Sunday afternoon in Warren, along Route 90 near Irving Drywall, sent the three drivers to the hospital around 3:30 p.m.

According to Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison, the chain-reaction crash occurred when Mark Boisvert's Nissan Frontier pickup truck drifted left and crossed the center line.

Ashlie Staples was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla and was unable avoid colliding with the oncoming pickup truck, and was struck in the front left quarter panel. As Boisvert's truck traveled down the side of Staples' car, it spun her around 90 degrees and eventually she went off the road into the ditch.

Boisvert's pickup truck was then struck in the passenger side door and front quarter panel by Hannah Brewer, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Cherokee behind Staples. Brewer's vehicle also spun around 90 degrees, and came to rest in a breakdown lane. Boisevert's vehicle, having spun completely around itself at least one full revolution, eventually left the roadway and also down into a ditch.

Staples and Brewer were able to get out of their vehicles on their own, and Dennison said they both had complaints of pain and were taken by North East Mobile Health ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center.

Boisvert sustained some facial and head injuries, and was removed by witnesses and passersby who came upon the crash. Dennison said he also might have suffered a neck injury. He was taken by Warren EMS to Pen Bay Medical Center.

Deputy Paul Spear is investigating the crash and Dennison said that charges are pending against Boisvert.
