Thankful for Waldo County community support for WindowDressers

Sat, 12/02/2023 - 7:45pm

I want to share how thankful I am for the overwhelming community support that the local WindowDressers group has received from Waldo County.

We completed a Rewrap build in October in Searsport and just finished a new insert build in Belfast before Thanksgiving.  In total, we made 495 new inserts and rewrapped 151 more.

In addition to the 75-plus customers, we had over 100 community volunteers work with us.  The towns of Searsport and Belfast generously supplied the workspaces: Searsport Community Building and the Belfast Boathouse.

The following local businesses supported us with donations, and we hope that you will support them in return:  Belfast Community Co-op, Hey Sailor!, Bell the Cat, Front Street Pub, Nautilus Seafood & Grill, Delvino’s, Darby’s, and Hannaford.

We are also thankful for the grant we received from the New England Grass Roots Environment Fund that enabled us to supply inserts to customers in need.

The local WindowDressers group consists of very dedicated individuals.  My special thanks go to each of these folks who have made our 2023 work such a success.

Worthy of special recognition is one dedicated volunteer who worked almost every day at both community builds:  Kevin Michaud of Searsport.  Kevin’s dedication to our effort truly is inspiring.  He likely touched each of the 600-plus inserts we processed, helping to make our community warmer this winter, lower heating costs and reduce carbon dioxide pollution.
