Event has passed

SEARSPORT — “If you are tired of the cold, come to the ‘beach’ and enjoy an indoor picnic with friends and neighbors, while helping those along the coast of Maine affected by the recent disastrous storms,” said The Searsport First Congregational Church, in a news release.

The Church will be holding an “Indoor Beach Party” fundraiser Saturday, March 2, from noon - 3 p.m., at 8 Church Street.

Curtis Hall will be decorated in a beachy theme for the “cabin fever reliever” event, which will feature a meal of hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, Cole slaw, tropical fruit salad, and indoor s’mores, with lemonade, coffee, and tea.

The event will also include beach-themed music and “beach bingo,” with beach picnic necessities given as prizes.

Suggested donation for the event is $15.

All proceeds will go to the Maine Seacoast Mission, which for over 100 years has served Downeast coastal and island communities and is ideally placed to provide assistance to those in the hard-hit area.

Erica Hutchinson, the organization’s Director of Development, will be a special guest.
