RSU #13 sees success of its first-ever district-wide Literacy Night

RSU #13 Hosted District-Wide Literacy Night Featuring Author Chris Van Dusen

Rockland, ME – RSU #13 proudly announces the success of its first-ever district-wide Literacy Night, held virtually and featuring the acclaimed children's book author, Chris Van Dusen. The event took place on March 7th, and was a resounding success, drawing an enthusiastic audience of students, parents, and educators.

In a unique and engaging format, Chris Van Dusen not only read aloud from one of his beloved books but also showcased his artistic talents by demonstrating the creation of two illustrations. The illustrations featured two characters from his works – Dee, the dog from the Mr. Magee books and Mercy from the Mercy Watson books - captivating the audience with the magic of storytelling and visual art.

The virtual Literacy Night aimed to foster a love for reading and writing among students across the district. Through the captivating presentation by Chris Van Dusen, attendees were not only entertained but also inspired to explore the world of literature and creativity. The event served as a testament to RSU #13's commitment to promoting literacy and engaging students in meaningful educational experiences.

Chris Van Dusen, a celebrated author and illustrator, has enthralled readers of all ages with his imaginative and whimsical stories.
