Pope Memorial Humane Society selects Gil Coyle as second artist featured on lobby Art Wall

    The Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston is pleased to announce that the second exhibition of art work is now being displayed in the lobby of the PMHS. The current show features the brilliant and whimsical work of artist Gil Coyle, and will be on display until the mid-August.

    Coyle holds teaching and arts degrees from Denver University, and has attended classes at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, New York University, and the Arts Student League of New York. Her award-winning work is included in the permanent collection of the Farnsworth Art Museum, as well as in many private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad.

    Visitors to the Pope Memorial Humane Society are encouraged to enjoy the current exhibition and future shows in the Art Wall space in the lobby. A portion of the proceeds from any art sold will be donated to support the work of the shelter.     The Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County was founded in 1989 to provide care, protection,and loving homes for abandoned and homeless companion animals in the Mid-Coast Maine area. PMHS supports activities advocating responsible pet ownership and the prevention of abuse and cruelty, and it sponsors events and activities that promote the health and welfare of animals and demonstrate the benefits of the human-animal bond. Since 1991, the Society has operated a shelter located on Buttermilk Lane in Thomaston. The Shelter is open between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
    Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. The Humane Society of Knox County provides animal support services to the communities of: Rockland, Thomaston, Warren, Owls Head, St. George, Port Clyde, Martinsville, Tenants Harbor, S. Thomaston, Spruce Head, Union, Appleton, Cushing, Matinicus, North Haven, Vinalhaven, Stockton Springs, and Morrill.
