WASHINGTON, D.C.—In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today voted in support of a $7.8 billion supplemental appropriations bill which will provide disaster relief to devastated areas in Texas and Louisiana. Under the FY17 Supplemental Appropriations bill approved by the House, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will receive $7.4 Billion and the Small Business Administration will receive $450 million to support residents impacted by last week's hurricane.

"Over the past week, strangers have stepped up to help one another in the face of this natural disaster, and I am grateful that today the House has put politics aside to do the same. This spending allocation marks the beginning of a long road to recovery for residents of Texas and Louisiana," said Congresswoman Chellie Pingree. "Congress must continue to monitor the needs of the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey and work to ease the burden of rebuilding their communities."
