Now and Then production brings comedy, drama to Waldo Theatre

WALDOBORO — The romantic comedy/drama Now and Then, by playwright Sean Grennan, is coming to The Waldo Theatre for four performances beginning March 30, 2024.

“The latest in a recent resurgence of fully-staged community theatre productions at The Waldo, Now and Then promises to be a fun, funny and bittersweet look at love, the decisions we all face in life, and the impact of the decisions on those who make them with us,” said The Waldo, in a news release.

The entire production takes place in Mulligan’s, a neighborhood Irish bar, fancifully created on the Waldo stage.

“There’s something that feels remarkably familiar about the relationships in this play,” said George Bates, Now and Then producer. “In some ways, partners know and understand each other intimately over time, yet, in other
ways, seemingly don’t know or understand each other at all. Sometime love endures, and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s largely about the choices we make along the way.”

Now and Then performances include two matinees on Saturday, March 30, and Sunday April 7, and two evening performances on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6.

The play is directed by Peter Henderson, of Tenant’s Harbor.

“We hope everyone who has a chance will come see Now and Then,” said Susan Hodder, The Waldo’s executive director. “It’s the first of several theatrical productions we’ll be staging at The Waldo this year. We promise you a laugh, and perhaps a tear, and a few hours of the magic of live theatre at Mulligan’s Bar.”

Advance tickets are available online for $15 at thewaldotheatre.org/nowandthen.
