letter to the editor

Louise says thank you

Tue, 11/07/2023 - 6:45pm

It’s a crazy time in our world. Whatever happens on Tuesday, I am at peace. Win or not, nothing will really change for me.

I will remain an active participant in the Rockland community. Creating events like Name Tag Day, volunteer appreciations, organizing coastal clean-ups and cookouts,
supporting our veterans and first responders, and continued work on the Rockland Harbor Trail foot by foot. And more.

I will continue to support AIO, St. Bernard’s and other non-profits that attend to basic human needs.

Of course, I will offer ongoing support for RDNA. Funding this needed service allows individuals to remain in their homes. That’s a solid housing plan.

Continuing to support mitigation and storm water/sewer separation, for Lindsey Brook area, is a no brainer. This community deserves to have their homes protected. We have the funding. This ball will not be dropped.

Serving on council opens your eyes. Good and bad. You do learn who your true blue friends are. That’s a blessing.

Thank you to the city staff. I couldn’t have done it without you. I know, it sounds like an Emmy speech, but staff made this year enjoyable for me. Ring that bell.

Finally, those who have said I’m too old and we need an infusion of youth on council. My response, when you become my age, then I’ll be old.

Peace out.

Mayor Louise MacLellan-Ruf
