LINCOLNVILLE — Rehearsals are well underway (and “under the sea”!) for the Spring musical. The Lincolnville Central School production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. will be presented Thursday March 21, Friday March 22, and Saturday March 23, 2024.

The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The cast contains 40 students, in grades 5 - 8, led by Kim Murphy and Susan Iltis, with behind-the-scenes assistance from many parents and students.

This classic Disney title contains all of the songs (music by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater) from the Academy Award winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show.

The Little Mermaid Jr. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel (Violet Prime) longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea (Ray Beach), escape the clutches of an evil sea witch (Emma Killough) and convince a prince (Andy O’Brien) that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. Ariel’s friends Sebastian (Maggie Feeney), Flounder (Isabel Pickford), and Scuttle (Aria Anderson) attempt to help her win the hand of the prince. Ariel’s mersisters (Abby Howland, Alli Moody, Lucy Morgenstern, Lilah Snow, Sydney Trull and Pearl Yetman) know that “She’s in Love”.

Grimsby (Devon Skrivanich) helps Prince Eric with his goal to find the girl with the magical voice; and the sea witch, assisted by two conniving eels (Daniel Hafford and Mac Joseph), attempts to thwart the romantic pairing. Along the way we meet a cadre of sailors, gulls, merfolk, chefs, and lagoon animals (Anaëlle Dodge, Jacob Curtis, Brecken Geisler, Maya Graham, Clara Harbaugh, Oren Hurley, Anderson Janaitis, Katalina Kriste, Lyllian Whitehill, Ophelia Larsen, Colette Nowak, Quinnie Watts, Eva Hurley, Vivienne Acciavatti, Cara Fields, Pepper Kelley, Evie Kramer, Emmy Neault, Indra O’Donnell, Saylor Rolerson, Paisley Stringer, Sylvia Talty, and Hazel Yandell).

Tickets will be $5 each and the shows will begin at 6:30 p.m. each night on March 21, 22, 23.

Refreshments will be sold by the 8th grade class.
