CAMDEN — In anticipation of the once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse that will be visible from Maine in April, Quarry Hill welcomes amateur astronomer John Fromer on Monday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m., to Anderson Inn. His talk will focus on the upcoming eclipse and the astronomy related to its proximity to our home.

John Fromer has been an amateur astronomer for 20 years. His interest in space and NASA started in the ‘60s. Fromer has photographed many objects, including a super nova in a distant galaxy. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with Quarry Hill residents and the wider community, according to Quarry Hill, in a news release.

Quarry Hill’s long-standing enrichment programs were sidelined in 2020 at the start of the COVID pandemic.

Newly hired Program and Marketing Coordinator Judy Landry is pleased to re-introduce Quarry Hill residents and the greater local community to a variety of programming designed to enhance one’s health and vitality after age 50.

“It’s time to come out of the dark ages of COVID and delve into a new area of enlightenment,” said Landry, in the release. “We hope these programs pique your interest and further enrich your active lifestyles.”

John Fromer’s astronomy presentation is free of charge and open to the public. Advance registration is required. To sign up, please call Quarry Hill at 301-6116 or email qhinfo@mainehealth.org.
