SOUTH THOMASTON — Trekkers is gearing up to welcome 40 new 7th graders from its six town service area of Thomaston, Cushing, St. George, South Thomaston, Owls Head and Rockland. Enrollment applications are due on February 2nd and must postmarked by February 2nd or received at the Trekkers office by 5 p.m. February 2nd to be considered on time.

If Trekkers receives more than 40 applications by February 2nd, they will implement a lottery system to select students. This lottery is designed to produce a gender and school-balanced group. Their overall goal is to have 15 girls and 15 boys from Oceanside Middle School and five girls and five boys from the St. George School. Any students who apply after February 2nd will be added to the waiting list until a spot becomes available.

Trekkers is a non-profit outdoor-based six-year mentoring program that connects young people with caring adults through expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education.
