ROCKPORT — The Camden-Rockport School Board has hired Janet Anderson as the next principal for Camden-Rockport Elementary School. Anderson will begin her new duties July 1. She replaces Theresa Lash, who was in that position for three years.

A National Board Certified teacher, literacy specialist and certified literacy coach, Anderson has worked in education for almost 17 years. Her passion for literacy and student learning are at the heart of her educational beliefs, according to a news release from School Administrative District 28.

She graduated from St. Lawrence University, where she met her husband, and soon found herself living in Maine.

“She quickly fell in love with the people, pace, and beauty of the state and has considered it home for most of her life,” the release said.

Over her career, she has taught gifted and talented students; third, fourth and fifth graders; and beginning readers who had difficulties learning to read.

Over the last eight years, Anderson has supported teachers as a literacy coach and instructional leader at Williams-Cone Elementary School in Topsham, and most recently at Mabel I. Wilson School in Cumberland.
