ROCKLAND– Broadreach Family & Community Services is hosting an Open House for the new Family Resource Hub on November 8, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of the Rockland Public Library. The purpose of the Family Resource Hub is to offer a "one stop shop" for social services and resources to support local families and children. The "Hub" concept has been used successfully in southern Maine communities. Now, through, Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC) this initiative is being brought to Knox, Waldo, Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties. The CPPC initiative is led by the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of Child and Family Services.

Broadreach Family & Community Services has been selected by DHHS to be the "backbone" organization for the CPPC initiative in midcoast Maine. CPPC includes a unique Parent Partner program in which parents who have past experience with the child welfare system are trained to provide support and assistance to other families. The Parent Partners are available to meet individually or in a group-facilitated, topic-based workshop. They offer emotional support, knowledge of the child welfare system, and assistance to parents seeking to strengthen relationships with their children and family members.

The mission of the CPPC and Parent Partner program is to keep children and families safe, engaged and thriving. CPPC is a collective impact model that works with 50+ individuals/organizations in an effort to streamline services while making family resources more accessible. The new Family Resource Hub located at the Rockland Public Library will be a key component of the Parent Partner program serving residents of Knox County.
