Whether you own a boat or are thinking about buying a boat, there are always questions about maintenance, materials, and ownership.  Rockland’s Sail, Power, and Steam Museum series, “Boat Talk,” brings staff and local experts together with current or prospective boat owners over coffee and donuts to help answer questions and to think through decisions that must be made. 

Sail, Power, and Steam Museum will be hosting Thomaston based Epifanes, a company known internationally for their paints and varnishes, to speak at the March 2, Boat Talk. The series takes place in person at the museum, at 75 Mechanic Street, Rockland. Registration is not required, and there is a suggested $10 donation at the door. 

“Understanding and then choosing paints or varnishes for a vessel can seem daunting with the rapid progress of modern coating systems. This talk aims to provide basic information such as the different types of products available, the general application and maintenance of a vessel’s coatings, as well as dispel some of the common myths of the field,” says museum waterfront staff, Ben Diamond, in a news release.

“The Boat Talk series will bring in experts on coatings and finishes, composites, anchoring, USCG rules and regulations, and more.  It allows prospective and current boat owners to get answers to their boating questions and to connect with fellow boaters and industry experts,” he said.

The mission of the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum is to celebrate, honor, experience, and share the story of Maine’s maritime heritage.  Hosting an extensive maritime history collection and active waterfront programs, the museum is located on the shores of Rockland’s working waterfront.
