Queer Lit Book Group begins in Rockland, Feb. 5

Event has passed

ROCKLAND — The Queer Lit Book Group will hold its first meeting Monday, February 5, at 6 p.m., in the Board Room at the Rockland Public Library. The group is open to all, but recommended for ages 16+.

Each month they will discuss a different piece of queer literature. It could be written by a queer author, and/or have queer themes or characters. They will kick things off with The Great Believers, by Rebecca Makkai, which is set largely during the AIDS epidemic.

The group is facilitated by Rose Turner and will meet on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m.

Rose Turner (she/they) moved from the Shenandoah Valley up to the Midcoast in 2022 and has been loving life in Maine. A librarian and artist by trade, she loves the ways stories can connect people.

“She's stoked to start this book group and get to know more locals!” said RPL, in a news release.

For more information, email pking@rocklandmaine.gov or call 594-0310. The Library is located at 80 Union St.
