ROCKLAND — On Saturday, April 27, local singer-songwriters John and Rachel Nicholas will host another of their continuing Good Trouble Project concerts. Each show is a fundraiser for a local cause or organization and is named in honor of the late congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis. The April event marks their first at The Barnswallow Book Store in Rockport Village and features singer-songwriter Dean Stevens from Boston.
 
The fundraiser will benefit The Stewardship Education Alliance. With the help of volunteers, schools, businesses, partnering environmental organizations and the communities it serves, S.E.A. works to fulfill its mission to increase awareness of ways to be better stewards of local watersheds. S.E.A. gives grants to teachers and high school students for projects that support the mission. It also hosts events including Poetry on Windows, S.E.A. FAIR and others, takes a mobile marine tank to schools and libraries, and welcomes everyone to S.E.A. PARK at the Camden Public Landing.
 
John and Rachel have been making music together for as long as they’ve made their lives together. Their brand of Americana folk is tinged with rock energy and soulful harmonies. Both their 2016 release, House Of Dreams, and their 2021 release, Learning How To Walk, spent several weeks in WERU’s list top 25 CDs. They started the Good Trouble Project in January of 2023.

He has established himself as a formidable creator and interpreter of songs in English and Spanish. His own material explores a variety of personal and social topics, paints sketches of people and places, celebrates the Earth, and annoys the narrow minded.”
 
Barnswallow Books is donating the space for the event and Harbor Square Gallery is sponsoring a modest honorarium for the featured performer. 

Admission for the fundraiser is $15.

Barnswallow Books is located at 166 Russell Ave, Rockport. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Call John at 508-314-1506 for info or to reserve seats.
