ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team hosted Lewiston in a thrilling Saturday, Oct. 12 contest in Rockport.

After a scoreless opening half, a trio of goals were tallied in the second half with Lewiston (11-0) collecting a 2-1 victory.

The host Windjammers (8-4) jumped on the scoreboard with a 1-0 lead in the second half at the 33:57 mark when Ben Owre crossed a pass to Quinn Brown, who tallied his 17th goal of the season.

A mere 20 seconds later, Bilal Hersi dribbled into the penalty area and the Blue Devils were awarded a penalty kick. Khalid Hersi found the back of the net to knot the game at 1-1.

From there, the Blue Devils scored again 26 minutes later when Suab Nur collected another penalty kick for the visitors and score what would be the goal that sealed a victory for Lewiston.

Casey Messer recorded 10 saves on 14 shots as the Windjammer goalkeeper, while Michael Belleau tallied four saves on seven shots as the Lewiston goalkeeper.

"We did almost everything right today. We executed our game plan and limited Lewiston's chances, scored the first goal and got just a little unlucky with two penalty decisions on a slippery surface that could have gone either way,” said Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley. “I'm happy with the effort and with the performance and I think I speak for the whole team that we really hope we get another chance to play them.”

The Windjammers conclude the regular season this week with a road contest Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Hampden Academy (4-6-1) at 6 p.m. and a home contest Friday, Oct. 18 against Cony (3-4-5) at 3 p.m.
