BELFAST — Attendants of Belfast’s 13th annual Wienerfest were forced to take refuge in the Boathouse after the event was hit with heavy rains in mid-September.

Despite deciding to skip the parade portion of the event, the costume contest was held inside of the Boathouse.

Hosted by Friends of Belfast Parks, Maine Wienerfest attracts locals and visitors alike, along with their stubby-legged companions. The event typically features a hot dog cook-off and grand parade, though the rain put a damper on both for the first couple hours of this year’s event.

There is also a “Doxie Derby,” that sees the compact creatures race against each other in addition to several raffles.

The event was $2 to attend, with kids and dogs entering free.
