BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity Sept. 22 - Oct. 2. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Sept. 22

Owen B. Wagner, 18, of Allentown, N.J., was issued a summons for speeding 74 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 9 in Unity.

    Sept. 23

The accident occurred when a driver came upon a tow truck parked on the side of Route 52 with a pedestrian/tow truck operator attempting to hook a chain on the rear of a disabled vehicle. The driver reportedly did not see the tow truck in time, causing them to swerve around the vehicle late, striking the pedestrian, and then the left front of the vehicle being towed. The report notes that the tow truck had its warning lights on, and that the pedestrian was not wearing reflective clothing of any kind. The pedestrian sustained a possible broken leg, and was transported for medical attention.

    Sept. 27

Deputy Daniel Thompson responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident on Waldo Station Road in Waldo, where the operator of a 1999 Saturn turned to speak with a passenger, causing the vehicle to swerve into the oncoming lane. The vehicle then sideswiped an oncoming 2014 Nissan, then traveled into a ditch, hitting an embankment and causing the vehicle to roll over. The Nissan continued into the opposite lane and stopped. The driver of the Saturn received non-incapacitating injuries to the leg, while the passenger in the vehicle received incapacitating injuries to the legs. Both were transported by ambulance for medical attention. Both occupants of the Nissan were uninjured.
