AUGUSTA — The Maine Senate President has appointed Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, to represent the Maine Senate on the Maine Citizen Trade Policy Commission.

The CTPC is comprised of members of the public, small business representatives, legislators, small farmers and nonprofit organizations.

"Too many times, international trade deals have put Mainers at an unfair disadvantage," said Miramant. "Now, as much as ever, it is essential that the CTPC puts the interests of Maine's workers at the forefront. I am honored to be appointed to the CTPC and will ensure that Mainers are well-represented at the table."

The CTPC was established to study the legal and economic impacts of trade agreements on existing laws, working conditions and businesses in Maine. The CTPC holds meetings throughout the state to provide a forum for citizens and legislators to voice their concerns and to protect Maine's jobs, businesses and laws from the negative impact of trade agreements.
