Oceanside will host Winslow Monday, Oct. 5 at 3:30 p.m.

Field Hockey
Belfast 1, Leavitt 0… At Belfast, The Lions received a goal from Kylie Nelson at 9:34 in the second half to break the stalemate and give the Lions all they needed.

Belfast goalie Morgan Fernald faced five shots made four saves. Leavitt goalie Hailey DeMascio faced eight shots made seven saves. Both teams had 10 penalty corners.

Belfast goes to 9-2 on the season.

Belfast JV's won 2-1

Winslow 1, Mount View 0… At Winslow, Winslow’s Cassidy Rickard scored in the first half for the only goal of the game.

Alexis Bowman was in the cage for Mount View with 10 shots and nine saves. Delaney Wood was in the cage for Winslow, and she saved 12 shots including a stroke by Reanna Boulay.  Mount View had 16 corners, and Winslow had six.

Winslow's JV won 4-1.

Lawrence 5, Camden Hills 2… At Rockport, The Camden Hills team came out on fire, but Lawrence soon put out the fire and raced on to the win.

“We played a strong first half but fell flat the second,” said Camden Hills Coach Lindsey Clement. “Most of our defense was playing out of position the second half, so it allowed for no transition to offense. Lawrence was by far the fastest team we have seen. Their style of playing was lots of large drives, followed by lots of sprinting; we did a great job the first half of keeping up, but our defensive positioning hurt us.”

Emily Daggett scored both of the Windjammer goals in the first half. Willow Grinnell had an assist on the second goal.

For Lawrence, Lauren Watson had a hat trick, and Dominique Lewis and Alexis Chamberlain had a goal each.

Jenna Stearns was in goal for the Windjammers where she had seven saves on 12 shots. Emily Tozier was in goal for Lawrence, and she had seven saves on nine shots for the win.

“Molly Davee was the rock of our defense yesterday,” said Clement. “She usually never marks deep into the circle, as she is the player pressuring the ball, but she had to recover because our other defenders weren't. Molly is usually involved in most of our transitions from defense to offense, and by her marking deep in the circle we had very few opportunities to get the ball out from our 25-yard area. Despite our lack of recovery, we did really well to hold Lawrence from scoring the last 22 minutes of the game; the ball rarely left our end, and they had a lot of hard hits coming in. Frances Pendleton stopped a few shots that would have been goals otherwise; she was in position and ready. There's no doubt, the score would have been higher without Frances's good positioning.”

Boys Soccer
Searsport 2, Bangor Christian 1… At Searsport, the Vikings (6-2-1) scored the first two goals of the game and held off a furious comeback attempt by the Patriots to win the game and hand Bangor Christian (7-1) their first loss of the season.

Liam MacMillan started the scoring 14 minutes into the game, beating the keeper with a perfectly placed shot from five yards out off a Connor Kneeland assist. The score remained the same until nine minutes to go in the game when Kneeland was taken down in the box and converted the resulting penalty kick.

The Patriots refused to go quietly though, and Tyler Welch converted his penalty kick just two minutes later to bring it back to a one-goal game. The Vikings were able to settle down and maintain control of the game and put it on ice in the final moments for their sixth win.

For Searsport, Ben Powell made 10 saves on 20 shots. For Bangor Christian, Austin Keib made three saves on seven shots.
