OWLS HEAD — Patricia M. Smith, 74, died Jan. 18, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a brief illness.

Born in Norwalk, Conn., on May 2, 1940, she was the daughter of Edward P. and Alice Frimpter Smith. While growing up in Westport, Conn., Pat attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Staples High School.

While raising her family, Pat trained as a tractor trailer operator and earned certification as a certified nurses assistant. She worked in both of these endeavors throughout her career.

A devoted grandmother, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, David M. Steeves and his wife, Sheila, of Rockland, and Alan Baker of Tigard, Ore.; three daughters, Heather-Rae Steeves and her companion, Lewis Dyer, of Owls Head, Lisa Landre of Rockland, and Jean Ann McDonald and her husband, Thomas, of Tigard, Ore.; a brother, Edward James Smith and his companion, Jackie Thompson, of St. George; two sisters, H. Joan Kokoska and her husband, John, of Wernersville, Pa., and Helen Ann Call and her husband, Charles, of Danbury, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
