Snow crazy!

Mid-March nor’easter blankets Maine, causes widespread cancellations (and fun)

MIDCOAST — Flurries late Monday afternoon provided a preview of the impending storm that would cover the majority of the state in snow throughout the day Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Snow was still steadily falling Wednesday morning and residents of the Penobscot Bay Region were posting to social media sites, both celebrating and lamenting two days of widespread area business and school closures, as well as reporting snow accumulation in the range of 12 inches to 18 inches and still falling.

Due to colder temperatures than last week’s storm, a lighter, fluffier snow covered the area in a heavy blanket of almost fairy-tale like snow, at least for those simply looking at it!

For those working to keep our communities safe and our roads plowed, as well as those simply cleaning up their own walkways and driveways, the storm of March 13 and March 14 marked the heaviest snowfall Midcoast Mainers have seen all winter.

With spring just days away, many have taken this storm with a bit of good humor and shrugged their —likely sore — shoulders. It is, after all, late winter in Maine.
