Local food and festivities at Rising Tide Community Market

 Rising Tide Community Market is gearing up for its holiday season Member-Owner Appreciation Week, starting Saturday, December 10 through Saturday, December 17. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the local foods sampling events scheduled throughout the week.

On Monday, December 12, from 4:30-6 p.m., Driftless Sourdough will offer samples of their bread. Driftless Sourdough uses Maine- and New England-grown grains in their breads, which are baked in small batches in Alna.  

Holmes and Hudson of Nobleboro will be at Rising Tide on Tuesday, December 13 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. salsa. Holmes and Hudson makes natural beauty products in small batches with food-grade ingredients.  

Looking for a little holiday self-care?  On Wednesday, December 14, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Amazing Grass and Ancient Nutrition will be offering samples of their bone broth powder, green nutrition powder, and protein powder.  During the same 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. time slot, local soap-maker, Sisters Soap of Bristol will be sampling their handcrafted soaps.  Sisters Soaps are made using Appleton Creamery goat's milk, olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil, as well as all natural essential and fragrance oils.

On Thursday, December 15, beginning at 3 p.m., the Jojoba Company of Waldoboro will be sampling their jojoba extract, which is processed locally and used as a skin nourishing, conditioning, and moisturizing product.  From 4 pm – 6 pm Nordic Naturals will be offering samples of their of their best-selling sustainably-crafted fish-oil and MarthaBars of Freeport will be giving out samples of their nutrient-dense chocolate bars.  

Looking for a boost going into your weekend?  Stop by the co-op between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, December 16 to sample 44 North coffee.  44 North roasts their organic coffee in batches on Deer Isle.  Also on Friday, Cameron Clan will sample their all-natural kettle corn from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. During the summer, Cameron Clan sells their kettle corn in downtown Damariscotta, and it’s now available for sale year-round at the co-op.  Finally, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Rosario’s will offer samples of pesto, which is made just down the road in Bristol.

Rising Tide’s third annual Holiday Gift Show is ongoing through January 2. Nine local artists are showcasing their work, which includes jewelry, wreaths, ornaments, and cutting boards. You can shop for holiday gifts during the store’s regular business hours from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily.    

Rising Tide Community Market is a natural food cooperative with 3,200+ member-owners located at 323 Main Street in Damariscotta. All sampling events and raffles are free and open to the community. Member-owners of Rising Tide are eligible to receive 10 percent off one shopping trip during the week, but everyone is welcome to shop.
