WESTPORT ISLAND — Lloyd E. Butterfuss, of Westport Island, passed away on Feb. 20, 2017, of complications from cancer at the age 62. Lloyd was born Sept. 1, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisc.

He had proudly served as a parachute rigger in the United States Navy until he was medically retired in Brunswick, Maine, then continued on into a career with Bath Iron Works. There, after 25 years, he retired Jan 31, 2006, as a designer for BIW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Kathleen Butterfuss; as well as his older brother, Leslie Butterfuss. He is survived by his sister, Lisa; and his brother, Lance Butterfuss.

Lloyd was a true friend, brother, loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest. For those who knew him well, you may not have always liked what he had to say, but you always knew where he stood.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations in the name of Lloyd E. Butterfuss be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Direct Cremation of Maine.
