Article 2 makes it easier to live, work and shop all within a walkable distance. The opponents seem to misunderstand the concept of sprawl. Sprawl comes from encouraging businesses to open at the outskirts of a town. Article 2 is supported by Camden Downtown Restaurants and was approved by two Select Board members who wrote letters in support. The Camden Planning Board approved Article 2 because it prevents sprawl and is perfectly in line with the Comprehensive Plan. As one supporter put it Article 2 is “a no brainer.”
