Camden’s Cutting Edge changes ownership, but business as usual with the stylists

CAMDEN — After 26 years of owning and running an established hair salon in downtown Camden, Jeanne Butler is taking a break. That doesn’t mean she is hanging up her shears; but, she has eased up in the business-end of the trade. Last week, she sold the Cutting Edge, on Mechanic Street, to Amy Judkins.

Judkins is no stranger to the business, or the Cutting Edge. She worked for Butler 21 years ago; in fact, it was her first job after graduating from beauty school.

Nothing will change drastically at the Cutting Edge, both Judkins and Butler said. Melanie Esancy, Dodie Leavitt and Sarah Haskell will continue styling hair as usual, as will Butler and Judkins.

The Cutting Edge will expand its services, however, and begin offering manicures, pedicures, facials, and extensions.

I want the salon to be a friendly environment for anyone who steps inside, and walk ins are welcome,” said Judkins. “Stop in and check us out or call 236-4084 for an appointment,”
