BELFAST — The Maine Celtic Celebration drew hundreds to Belfast Common and Steamboat Landing Saturday, July 21, which was the first full day of the annual event.

There was a variety of activities for those who attended the free event Saturday including highland games, a sheep herding demonstration, constant music, and beer tent, among others. An array of foods were also available including a host of fried foods ranging from the well-loved doughboy to deep-fried cheesecake and deep-fried candy bars.

Though Sunday brought soggy weather it didn’t dampen the high spirits of those in attendance, who listened to music in the boathouse and visited other vendors and features in the United Farmer’s Market building. The annual cheese roll, which is typically held Sunday afternoon was moved ahead a day in anticipation of the weather.

According to their flyer, “the Maine Celtic Celebration is produced by a small group of dedicated volunteers.”
