BANGOR — Husson University recently announced their honors scholars from Fall semester 2018. The list includes several students who were awarded scholarships from the Worthington Scholarship Foundation.

Worthington Scholars who made the Presidents List (3.8 or higher GPA) include: Shannon Ripley, Connor Harvey, Ainsley Meklin and Haley Wyllie.

Dean’s List (GPA of 3.6-3.79) scholars were Cassie Butler, Michael Dougherty, Abigail Nelson.

Honors Scholars (3.4-3.59 GPA) included Janelle Fowlie, Destiny Powers, Logan Sheridan, and Charlotte Ruth Strong-Ames.

The Worthington Scholarship is an annual renewable college scholarship to aid students with merit and demonstrable need in Midcoast Maine to afford college without incurring significant debt.   The award amount is up to $4,000/year, for a four-year school; community college awards cover the costs of all tuition and fees that are not covered by other financial aid sources.

“As we receive information from other Maine schools attended by Worthington Scholars we will also recognize those students,” said the Foundation, in a news release.

The scholarship also comes with a mentoring component providing year-round staff ready to assist with any challenges, and to aid each student in establishing and identifying a career following graduation.

Offered are networking and support events, internships, career counseling and leadership development opportunities.

“Achieving strong personal success along with success at school and in their communities is a hallmark of a Worthington Scholar,” the Foundation said.
