BELFAST — Last week Waldo County General Hospital, welcomed a group of 24 seniors from Maine Maritime Academy for their Medical Person in Charge course.

This course is taught by MMA Assistant Professor and Waldo County General Hospital ER Nurse Jeff Boal and is intended to help enhance his students’ abilities.

It is very difficult to learn lifesaving medical procedures from a PowerPoint presentation, so Boal arranged a formal clinical placement agreement with Waldo County General Hospital to allow students to work and learn alongside medical professionals in the facility’s emergency room.

This is a first clinical learning experience of its kind related to maritime academy education in the United States. WCGH is proud to welcome this elite group of men and women and wish them the best of luck in their studies.
