Waldoboro Police beat: Sliced tires, accidents, stolen tools

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 164 calls for service from Feb. 21-27. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Feb. 21        

    Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated a report from a citizen that while traveling on Washington Road he ran over nails on the roadway.

    Feb. 22                                                 

    Simon Brightman-Uhl, 38, of Walpole, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for operating after suspension and failing to show proof of insurance.

    Feb. 23        

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that he had some tools stolen. 

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on Depot Street at 9:30 p.m. Joshua Wilshire, 32, of Waldoboro, was operating a 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck. Nancy Harley, 54, of Waldoboro, was the operator of 2003 Buick utility vehicle that was legally parked. Wilshire was traveling southbound, following the roadway and operating the vehicle in an erratic, reckless, careless, negligent or aggressive manner. Wilshire went off the road and struck Harley’s vehicle. No injuries were reported. 

    Hesseltine arrested Joshua Wilshire for operating under the influence. 

    Justin Nicholson, 37, of Newcastle, was arrested by Fuller on a warrant. 

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen who told police that her vehicle tires were sliced and another vehicle was keyed. 

    Feb. 24        

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen that he got roofing nails in his vehicle’s tire last week.

    Feb. 25

    Fuller investigated an accident on the Bremen Road at 1:28 p.m. Sarah Callan, 27, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2007 Subaru utility vehicle. Due to extremely slippery road conditions, Callan slid off the roadway on the right, slid across a field and came to rest against a fence and tree. No injuries were reported. 

    Fuller investigated a report from a citizen of an unwanted subject. The subject was found and warned on criminal trespass. 

    Feb. 26                                                 

    Michael Nelson, 32, of Rockland, was issued a summons by Fuller for operating after suspension.

    A 16-year-old male, of Union, was issued a summons by Officer Chris Spear for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco products by a minor.

    A 16-year-old male, of Friendship, was issued a summons by Spear for possession of tobacco product by a minor.

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Finntown Road at 7:20 p.m. Tristan Whitcomb, 20, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1997 Toyota sedan. Aliza Anthony, 24, no town listed, was the passenger. Whitcomb was traveling northbound, following the roadway and ran off the road. Injuries were reported for Whitcomb and passenger. 

    Feb. 27        

    Trevor Polk, 31, of Cushing, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for uninspected motor vehicle.
