Waldoboro Police beat: Arrest warrants, stolen diamond ring, accidents

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 697 calls for service from Oct. 16-Nov. 28. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Oct. 24   

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 2:03 p.m. Bruce Elfast 76, of Tenants Harbor, was driving a 2011 Toyota sedan. A passenger, Gayle Elfast, was injured. Thomas Forti, 79, of Bremen, was driving a 2010 Jeep utility vehicle. Elfast was traveling northbound on the Atlantic Highway. He slowed down for stopped traffic at the intersection of Winslow’s Mills Road. Elfast stated that his brakes malfunctioned and went out and he swerved into the parking lot to avoid striking the vehicles stopped in traffic ahead of him. Elfast struck Forti’s vehicle which was parked near the gas pumps. Elfast continued on into the parking lot, striking a large rock before coming to rest.

    Oct. 29

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Finntown Road at 7:54 p.m. Cameron Pease, 20, of Cushing, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck. Logan Macdougall, 18, was driving a 2007 Mercury sedan. Injuries were listed for the passenger, Robert Colpritt. Pease was traveling northbound on the Finntown Road, making an improper pass. Pease pulled out in front of Macdougall who then applied the brakes causing his vehicle to go off the roadway and strike a utility pole.

    Cameron Pease, 20, of Cushing, was issued a summons by Bartunek for driving to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident.

    Oct. 30

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen about a stolen diamond ring.

    Oct. 31       

    Tammy Boyington, 48, of Warren, was issued a summons by Officer Justin Hills for a violation of conditional release.

    Hills investigated an accident on the Orff’s Corner at 11:48 p.m. Glenn Dever, 56, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2018 Dodge pickup truck. He was traveling northbound following the roadway. A deer ran into vehicle causing damage. No injuries were reported.

    Nov. 1

    Chief John Lash investigated an accident in the Hannaford Parking lot at 11:02 a.m. Rosemary Mancini, 72, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck. Catherine Hopler, of Waldoboro, was driving 2006 Toyota sedan. Mancini started from a parked position, failed to stay in the proper lane, and damaged Hopler’s vehicle , which was unoccupied and legally parked. No injuries were reported.

    Heath Genthner, 44, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Lash for a violation of a protection order.

    Bartunek investigated an accident at the Atlantic Highway/Washington Road intersection at 8:32 p.m. Ryan Harding, 17, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Ford sedan. Harding was traveling northbound following the roadway, made a left turn onto Washington Road, drove too fast for the road conditions, lost control of his vehicle and went off the road. No injuries were reported.             

    Nov. 3       

    James O’Brien, 47, of Damariscotta, was issued a summons by Hills for operating after suspension.

    Scott Schultz, 52, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hills on a warrant.

    Hills is investigating a report from a citizen that $200 was stolen from him.

    Nov. 10

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen about a stolen check.

    Nov. 11 

    Amber Chaisty, 27, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hills for violation of conditional release and a warrant.

    Nov. 16

    Bartunek arrested Devin Davis, 32, of Friendship, for domestic violence assault and violation of conditional release.

    Fuller investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 1:27 p.m. Sanford Winchenbach, 56, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup. Johnna Dehlinger, 55, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2014 Land Rover utility vehicle. Winchenbach backed out onto the roadway while plowing, failing to yield the right of way to the oncoming vehicle operated by Dehlinger. Injuries were reported.

    Nov. 17     

    Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 4:14 p.m. Matthew Benner, 40, of Jefferson, was driving a 2010 Ford pickup truck. Stuart Feldpausch, 27, of South Thomaston, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck. Feldpausch was traveling southbound on the Atlantic Highway. Benner was behind Feldpausch, traveling southbound as well. Feldpausch slowed down due to a vehicle ahead of him slowing down to make a right turn.Benner was following too closely and struck rear of Feldpausch, causing damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.

    Nov. 18       

    Bartunek investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 5:07 a.m. Lisa Henny, 54, of Nobleboro, was driving a 2016 Ford utility vehicle. Henny was traveling eastbound, following the roadway. A deer ran out into the roadway, striking her vehicle. No injuries were reported.

    Nov. 20

    Bartunek investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 6:23 p.m. Richard Baker, 75, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1990 Chevrolet van. Baker was traveling westbound following the roadway, lost control and slid off the road. No injuries were reported.

    Nov. 21     

    Officer Andrew Santheson investigated an accident on the Kaler’s Corner Road, at 9:09 a.m. Nevins Bartolomeo, 31, of Portland, was driving a 2014 Honda sedan. Lorraine Hayden, 82, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Ford sedan. Bartolomeo was exiting the Hannaford parking lot, making a left turn onto Kaler’s Corner Road.  He did not see Hayden approaching from his right on the Kaler’s Corner Road. Bartolomeo pulled out in front of Hayden. No injuries were reported.

    Karrie Prior, 27, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek on a warrant.

    Nov. 23

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on the Old Augusta Road at 9:58 a.m. Timothy Aho (no date of birth and place of residence was listed on police report) was driving a 1995 Volvo utility vehicle. Aho slid off the roadway due to slippery road conditions, striking a telephone pole, stone wall, several trees, and a fence. The vehicle came to rest on a stump between two trees. No injuries were reported.

    Nov. 24   

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen someone broke out some windows in his trailer.
