Waldoboro Police beat: Arrest warrants, stolen chainsaws, accidents

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 322 calls for service from Aug. 21-Sept. 5. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Aug. 21

    Joseph Jackson, 85, of Friendship, was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for operating after suspension.

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen that someone broke into his garage and stole some tools valued at approximately $1440.

    Aug. 24                                              

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 2:14 p.m. Daniel Barter, 27, of Boothbay, was driving a 2006 Kia sedan. Suzanne Frietas, 69, of Friendship, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen sedan with a passenger, Jacqueline Frietas, 70. Barter looked down for something in his vehicle, took his eyes off the roadway and struck Frietas who was driving in front of him. Injury codes were listed for the passenger.

    Aug. 25                                            

    David Beal, 46, of Washington, was arrested by Officer Andrew Santheson on a warrant.

    Aug. 26                                              

    Todd Dodge, 45, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Justin Hills on a warrant.

    Aug. 27       

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen who said that his vehicle was broken into and approximately $1635 worth of tools were stolen. (Second incident)

    Charles Stone, 46, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Fuller for operating after suspension.

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of a stolen Apple watch.

    Aug. 28                                              

    Paul Colbath, 68, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Tom Bartunek for terrorizing.

    Aug. 30       

    Jeromey McPhee, 39, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant.                  

    Clyde Maloney, 73, of Cushing, was arrested by Sgt. Jamie Wilson on a warrant.

    Sept. 1                                                

    Fuller investigated an accident on Washington Road at 11:05 a.m. A juvenile, 16, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Ford sedan. Neil Ross, 65, of Bremen, was driving a 2011 GMC pickup truck. The juvenile was operating too closely to Ross’ vehicle and struck a trailer being towed by him, who had slowed for a vehicle making a right turn in front of him. Injuries were reported for the juvenile.

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that two chainsaws were stolen from his barn.

    Sept. 4                                                

    Fuller investigated an accident at the intersection of Main Street, Bremen Road and Kalers Corner, at 11:07 a.m. Amanda Bauer, 39, of Cambridge, Mass., was driving a 2013 Fiat sedan. Christopher Chickering, 26, of Bristol, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck. Bauer failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and struck Chickering’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

    Fuller investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway, at the intersection of Main Street.Troy Poulin, 55, of Litchfield, was driving a 2017 Hino medium, heavy duty truck. Mikayla Wallace, 18, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2008 Suzuki sedan. Poulin attempted to pass Wallace on the right at the intersection, while she was making a left turn onto Main Street. No injuries were reported.

    Sept. 5                                                

    Wilson is investigating a report from Tucker Chevrolet that a plate was taken off a vehicle in their lot.
