Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, stolen snowmobile, assault

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 457 calls for service from June 19-July 10. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    June 19                                              

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on Union Road at 8:25 p.m. Renee Secotte, 36, of Searsmont, was driving a 2008 Ford sedan. Secotte was traveling northbound following the roadway. A deer ran out in front of the vehicle and the operator was unable to avoid striking it. No injuries were reported.

    June 23                                              

    Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on the Winslows Mills Road at 11:06 a.m. Edward Tooley, 65, of Rockport, was driving a 2015 Ford van. Michael Moloney, 41, of Gardiner, was driving a 2003 Jeep utility vehicle. Tooley was traveling northbound following the roadway before attempting to make a left turn. As Tooley began to make a U-turn, his vehicle made contact with the rear passenger side of Moloney’s vehicle, causing both vehicles to leave the road. Moloney was also traveling northbound, following the roadway. No injuries were reported. 

    June 29                                              

    Spear investigated an accident on Friendship Road at 11:00 a.m. Eric Ross, 53, of Sidney, was driving a 2015 Dodge pickup truck. David Asiaf, 75, of Bridgewater, Mass., was driving a 2015 Ford utility vehicle. Ross was traveling southbound, following the roadway behind Asiaf. Ross then struck Asiaf’s vehicle. Asiaf was also traveling southbound following the roadway and began to make left hand turn into a parking lot to reverse his direction. No injuries were reported.

    June 30                                              

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of stolen medication.

    July 1

    Spear is investigating a report from a citizen of a stolen 96 Polaris snowmobile.

    July 3                                                 

    Zachary Genthner, 26, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Larry Hesseltine on a warrant.                                                          

    Nicole Brann, 24, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek on a warrant. 

    July 5          

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 5:00 a.m. Laura Hatch, 52, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2017 Jeep utility vehicle. Hatch was traveling eastbound, following the roadway when a deer ran out into her vehicle’s path. The driver struck the deer. No injuries were reported.

    Earl Libby, 29, of Newcastle, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for operating after suspension.

    Carrie Emerson, 40, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for uninspected motor vehicle.

    July 6                                                 

    Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident at the Bremen Road/Kalers Corner/ Main Street intersection, at 7:40 p.m. Tori Wraga, 22, of Malta N.Y., was driving a 2015 Nissan sedan. Timothy Berry, 36, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2009 Hyundai sedan. Wraga was traveling northbound following the roadway, came to a complete stop at the stop sign on the Bremen Road, but failed to observe Berry entering the intersection, making contact with the vehicle. Berry was traveling eastbound, following the roadway on Main Street. No injuries were reported.                  

    Robert Britt, 71, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Spear for assault.

    July 7                                                 

    Alison Braun, 27, of Warren, was issued a summons by Fuller for endangering the welfare of a child.

    James Truman, 37, of Belgrade, was issued a summons by Fuller for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

    July 8          

    Spear is investigating a report from a citizen of stolen fishing equipment.

    July 10        

    Gloria Beverage, 32, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for speed.
