Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, stolen leaf vacuum

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 98 calls for service from Sept. 5-11. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Sept. 5

    Kodi Merrill, 33, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Jeffery Fuller on a probation violation.

    Sept. 6                                              

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway. Henry Groth Kennard, 33, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2009 Toyota sedan. Nancy Cataldo, 63, of Acton Mass., was driving a 2010 Subaru sedan. Kennard was in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot. He attempted to cross Atlantic Highway and pulled out in front of V2, which was traveling southbound on the Atlantic Highway. No injuries were reported.                 

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen that she was threatened by a customer.

    Sept. 7                                                

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on Winslows Mills Road at 7:56 a.m. Dakota Young, 32, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2001 GMC pickup truck. Erica Beaster, 31, of Warren, was driving a 2010 Nissan utility vehicle. Laura Butera, 51, of Waterville, was driving a 2009 Toyota sedan. Young failed to stop and struck Beaster,  causing Beaster to strike Butera, while he had stopped in the roadway for a school bus. Injuries were reported. 

    Sept. 10                                              

    Officer Justin Hills is investigating a report from a citizen about the theft of a leaf vacuum from in front of his residence.                                                        

    Officer Tom Bartunek is investigating a report from a citizen about the theft of his GMX bicycle.                   

    Bartunek is investigating a report from a citizen that someone stole a check and cashed it for $700.
