WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 198 calls for service from Dec. 19-Jan. 3. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Dec. 20 

Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Union Road at 11 a.m. Scott Folsom, 59, of Hope, was driving a 2004 Toyota pickup truck. Folsom was traveling southbound following the roadway, drove too fast for conditions, struck black ice and went out of control, coming to rest in the ditch on the northbound side. No injuries were reported. 

Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 12:15 p.m. Cynthia Stevenson, 52, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2008 Kia van. David Aho, 70, of Warren, was driving a 1995 Ford pickup truck. Stevenson was traveling westbound, making a left turn. Aho was traveling westbound, following the roadway and failed to yield right-of-way. No injuries were reported. 

Dec. 23 

Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident at the Atlantic Highway/Washington Road intersection, at 5:59 a.m. Gifford Campbell, 62, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1999 64-Sterling truck. Christopher Mank, 40, of Warren, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck. Campbell, driving the Public Works plow truck, backed out onto the Atlantic Highway to plow the intersection of the Washington Road. When doing so, the operator failed to yield the right of way to Mank’s oncoming vehicle. Mank attempted to stop, but due to slippery road conditions, slid into the rear of Campbell, causing damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. 

Dec. 26 

Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Bremen Road at 10:34 p.m. Kristopher Ferrin, 18, of Bremen, was operating a 2013 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Ferrin was traveling northbound, following the roadway and ran off roadway. The driver fled the scene. Injuries were reported. 

Kristopher Farrin, 18, of Bremen, was issued a summons by Bartunek for operating without a license and leaving the scene of an accident. 

Dec. 27    

Meghan Lespier, 30, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Bartunek for criminal trespass.

Jake Dixon, 27, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Bartunek for criminal trespass.

Bartunek investigated an accident on the Kalers Corner Road at 8:34 p.m. Daniel Willey, 24, of Friendship, was driving a 2016 Ford pickup truck. Willey was traveling northbound following the roadway, and ran off the roadway. Injuries were reported. 

Daniel Willey, 24, of Friendship, was arrested by Bartunek for operating under the influence, violation of conditional release and failure to register motor vehicle. 

Dec. 30 

Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on the Washington Road at 2 p.m. A juvenile, 16, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck. The juvenile was traveling southbound on the Washington Road, following roadway, and ran off the roadway. No injuries were reported.

Dec. 31                                                          

Hesseltine investigated an accident on Controversy Lane. Dakotah Mank, 30, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2009 Nissan pickup truck. Mank was traveling northbound on Controversy Lane, following the roadway and driving too fast for conditions, went off the road, striking a utility pole. No injuries were reported. 

Jan. 1 

Fuller investigated an accident on Jefferson Street, at 12:31 p.m. Gary Studley, 64, of Warren, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet sedan. Emily Eastman, 28, of Friendship, was driving a 2003 Ford sedan. Studley failed to yield right of way to oncoming Eastman, while making a left turn into a driveway. No injuries were reported.
