Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, arrest warrant

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 108 calls for service from April 11-15. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    April 11

    Officer Nathaniel Jack investigated an accident on the Winslow’s Mills Road at 7:55 a.m. James Hastings, 49, of Union, was driving a 2012 Freightliner truck. Hastings was traveling northbound, following the roadway. The semi-trailer he was hauling disconnected from his truck. The trailer struck the right rear corner of the truck and rolled over into the ditch. No injuries were reported.

    April 12      

    Ricky Coffin, 35, of Rockland, was arrested by Officer Jeffery Fuller for operating after suspension and a warrant.

    April 13      

    Fuller investigated an accident on Main Street at 11:06 a.m. Gloria Ellis, 78, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2007 Chrysler sedan. Ellis was traveling south on Main Street and a deer ran out and struck the front quarter panel of her vehicle. No injuries were reported. 

    April 14      

    Officer Dwight Jones investigated an accident at the Main Street /Jefferson Street/Friendship Street intersection at 8:40 p.m. Lisa Gibson, 46, of Steuben, was driving a 2019 Dodge pickup truck. Shana York, 43, of Damariscotta, was driving a 2018 Ford pickup truck. York was stopped at stop sign on Jefferson Street at Main Street. Gibson was traveling down Main Street when York proceeded through the stop sign to cross Main Street. York struck Gibson’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

    April 15      

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident at the intersection of Cross Street/ Wagner Bridge Road, at 7:43 p.m. Maitland Williams, 37, of Bremen, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck. Williams turned onto Cross Street headed west from the Wagner Bridge Road. The operator lost control in the rain and went off the roadway on the left, striking a tree. No injuries were reported.
