BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity July 5-13. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    July 5

Christopher King, 30, of Swanville, was arrested for unlawful possession of a schedule W drug, unlawful furnishing of a scheduled drug, unlawful trafficking of a scheduled drug, and operating after suspension.

    July 8

Deputy David Wight responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident in a parking area of Park Drive in Winterport. The operator of a 2016 Nissan was backing up when they accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake. The vehicle struck a legally parked 2016 Nissan, causing minor damage to both vehicles. The operator was driving with a valid 60-day temporary operating permit and has a licensed driver in the vehicle. There were no injuries.

Deputy Cassandra McDonald responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Lebanon Road in Winterport where an operator following the roadway came upon a pickup truck parked partially in the road and partially on the shoulder. The driver, who was operating a 2017 Dodge, slowed to a stop because she reportedly could not if there was oncoming traffic. A second vehicle traveling behind the first attempted to do an evasive maneuver around the now stopped vehicle, but they were unable to avoid striking the rear driver side bumper. Both drivers exchanged information and the driver of the Dodge then left the scene and continued to a nearby church.

McDonald made contact with the driver a short time later who said she left the scene because no one was injured and the damage was likely less than $1,000. She was advised that in the future she needs to remain at the scene. McDonald observed tire marks in the grass when she examined the scene, which was consistent with the description of the crash and where it occurred. The truck that had been parked partially in the road left the area after the accident. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The driver of the Dodge sustained a possible injury to the neck while her two passengers were uninjured.

    July 9

David C. Whitmore, 57, of Frankfort, was issued a summons for failure to comply with the Sex Offender Registry Act on Danforth Lane in Frankfort.

    July 10

Deputy McDonald responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident in a parking lot on Atlantic Highway in Lincolnville. An unoccupied 2018 Ford was parked legally in the lot when a black Chevrolet attempted to park in the spot next to the vehicle and struck the driver side door, causing a transfer of paint and dent on the Ford. The driver of the Chevrolet then left the note. The driver of the Ford didn’t discover the accident until they emerged from the business and discovered a note on the car left by a third party. The note reportedly described the accident and the vehicle, though there was no license plate information and the note was unsigned. The Ford sustained minor damage.
