UPDATE: Wanted Whiting man arrested by State Police, charged with multiple felonies

    TRESCOTT, UPDATE — S​tate Police today arrested a Whiting man they had been looking for for three days and charged him with multiple felonies, according to a media release from the Maine State Police. Robert Boggia, 32, was arrested at the home of his girlfriend on the County Road in the Trescott section of Lubec about 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16. State Police Tactical team assisted troopers with the arrest.

    Boggia is now charged with gross sexual assault, domestic violence assault, robbery, burglary and theft. His girlfriend, Nicole Phinney, 45, was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, according to the media release.

    Boggia, who runs​ ​marijuana shops in Machias and Calais, had eluded authorities for most of the week. State Police asked the public for help yesterday through the media and on Facebook, and received a number of tips.

    UPDATE, TRESCOTT — State Police have apprehended Robert Boggia of Whiting, according to a release from the State Police on Feb. 16.

    Boggia was arrested at a home in Trescott around 11 a.m. on Friday, officers were assisted by a Maine State Police tactical team. He will face numerous felony charges including gross sexual assault and felony domestic violence, according to the release.

    State Police said an additional update will be issued later in the day.

    WHITING, Feb. 15 — State Police are looking for a Whiting man wanted for “serious felony crimes,” and they are asking the public for help.

    Troopers have not been able to locate Robert Boggia, 32. He is 6'1" tall, weighs 185 pounds, has blue eyes and has a shaved head, according to a statement from State Police.

    He was last known to be in Whiting, but also frequents the Machias, Calais, and Ellsworth areas. Anyone who has seen Boggia or knows his whereabouts is asked to call the State Police Communications Center in Bangor at (207) 973-3700, or call 911.
