UPDATE: Police identify man who perished on Route 3 Liberty crash

    LIBERTY — Maine State Police said an Oakland man was killed this morning when his pickup was struck by another truck on Route 3 in Liberty.   William Chadwick, 55, died after a box truck crossed the centerline and collided head-on with Chadwick’s GMC Sierra, according to police. 

    Dusan Dokic, 20, of Spanaway, Washington, was driving the Freightliner box truck and was not injured. 

    Both trucks came to rest in the ditch, on the lake side of Route 3, by the state park.  The road was closed for three hours as the crash was investigated. 

    The Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection also responded to clean up fuel oil that spilled from the larger truck’s fuel tank .

    “Although the crash took place during today’s snow storm, troopers have reached no conclusions on why the crash took place and will continue to investigate why the larger truck crossed into the opposite lane,” according to Maine Public Safety Office spokesman Steve McCausland.


    LIBERTY — Maine State Police say one person has been killed in a crash of two vehicles on Route 3 in Liberty during this morning’s snow storm. 

    The crash took place in front of Lake St. George State Park at approximately 9:30 a.m. Traffic on Route 3 is being detoured around the crash site with assistance from the Liberty Fire Department.  A team of troopers are investigating the crash.  The two trucks involved were a pickup and a box truck.
